The PharmNet.Bund.de portal provides information on medicinal products from the drug information system of the competent authorities BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices), PEI (Paul-Ehrlich-Institut) and BVL (Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety) in order to improve transparency and safety of medicinal products and to monitor the appropriate therapeutic use of medicinal products. Sections of this information are public and can be accessed for searching.
The PharmNet.Bund-Drug Information System contains administrative data concerning the authorisation of medicinal products as well as Summary of Product Characteristics (SPCs) and Patient Information Leaflets (PILs).
Further information on the drug information system can be found in the database description of the German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI).
You can access the system via the "Search Access for non-professionals" or the "Search Access for professionals" button and navigate directly to the application in which the following information is free of charge:
Medicinal Product Name
Dosage Form
Marketing Authorisation Holder
Licence Number
Marketability
Patient Information Leaflets
Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC)
Public Assessment Reports
Summary of Product Characteristics and Patient Information Leaflets are already available for numerous marketable medicinal products. The publication of Public Assessment Reports is still developing; therefore there are only a small number of reports at the moment.
If you want to call up documents containing further information on marketing authorisation (compare the "sample record" in the database description of the DIMDI), payments can be made by credit card via a shopping basket function (Pay-Per-View (PPV) procedure). The price of a complete document is 1.79 €. Please note, that there is a minimum order value of 5 € per order transaction.
